A Curious Fact About the Sun

While still young, before the flower fully opens, the Giant Sunflower actually follows the sun's movement throughout the day, a phenomenon called heliotropism. After flowering, the flower settles facing east, ready to catch the first rays of sun each morning, and stops moving for the rest of the day.
