This mini stone house recreates, on a small scale, the traditional architecture of Idanha-a-Velha, an age-old settlement at the heart of the Naturtejo Geopark, the first UNESCO Global Geopark recognised in Portugal. Each piece is worked by hand, preserving Beira Baixa's handcrafted techniques and paying tribute to this historic village's Roman heritage.

A Village with Over Two Thousand Years of History

Idanha-a-Velha was founded by the Romans in the late 1st century BC and raised to municipality status about a century later. It survived Germanic invasions, became a bishopric seat under the Suevi, and kept that status under the Visigoths, a period that gave rise to the famous legend of King Wamba. It's this living memory that this miniature seeks to preserve and share.
