A recipe by Chef Raquel Ramos, made by hand in Idanha-a-Nova
Geocakes' Walnut and Chocolate Cookies are handcrafted biscuits with a clear identity: walnuts from Beira Baixa, quality chocolate and fresh eggs, brought together in a dough that doesn't need added salt to have personality. The recipe is by Chef Raquel Ramos, Geocakes' founder, and it shows from the very first bite: a soft texture that gives gently, an intense walnut flavour with just the right balance of chocolate, without excess.
These are biscuits that don't try to be anything else. Truly handcrafted, made by hand in Idanha-a-Nova, at the heart of the Naturtejo Geopark. Each pack is a slice of inland Portugal, of the territory Raquel and Rui chose to build Geocakes in, back in 2012.
The territory in the flavour
Idanha-a-Nova lies within Portugal's first UNESCO Global Geopark. It's not just an address, it's an origin with weight and history. Geocakes produces here because it believes the territory matters, that local ingredients make a difference, and that an honest recipe needs no shortcuts. The Walnut and Chocolate Cookies are proof of that.
What sets them apart
How to enjoy them
The Walnut and Chocolate Cookies pair well with a mid-morning coffee, an afternoon tea, or a shared dessert. They're also a meaningful gift choice: for anyone who appreciates biscuits with character, who enjoys receiving something handmade, and who wants to take a piece of Beira Baixa home.
From Beira Baixa to your table. Flavourful and authentic.
Traditional Portuguese sweet-making in a gluten-free coquinho
34% coconut, 28% fresh eggs and buckwheat flour. Geocakes' Gluten-Free Coquinhos don't hide what makes them - and that's exactly why they work. Made by hand in Idanha-a-Nova, following Beira Baixa's sweet-making recipes, they reach your table gluten-free, lactose-free and GMO-free.
Coquinhos are one of the sweets most deeply rooted in Portuguese sweet-making tradition. Geocakes' version is made in Idanha-a-Nova, at the heart of the Naturtejo Geopark - the first Portuguese geopark recognised by UNESCO - with a recipe that preserves the intense coconut flavour without giving up food inclusivity. Each coquinho is made by hand, with selected natural ingredients.
The combination of coconut (34%) with fresh eggs (28%), sugar and buckwheat flour gives these sweets a unique texture - firm on the outside, moist and intense on the inside. Buckwheat replaces conventional wheat flour without compromising the flavour or structure of the traditional coquinho.
Gluten-free, lactose-free, GMO-free - with genuine flavour
Geocakes' Gluten-Free Coquinhos are an inclusive choice with no compromise on quality. Suitable for those with gluten intolerance or wheat sensitivity, they keep the full identity of traditional Beira sweet-making - the same coconut flavour, the same handcrafted texture, the same recipe as always.
Coconut, eggs and know-how - nothing left out
How to Enjoy the Gluten-Free Coquinhos
They pair well with afternoon tea, morning coffee or a simple dessert. The intensity of the coconut also makes them an appealing choice for traditional sweet tables and gifts for anyone with dietary restrictions. Available in bulk, by the kilo, to enjoy at your own pace with no waste.
A Beira Baixa recipe for every table
The Gluten-Free Coquinhos come from know-how Geocakes preserves with care: traditional Portuguese pastry-making, handmade in Idanha-a-Nova, with natural ingredients and no shortcuts. The soft texture with a slightly crisp outside, the intense coconut aroma, the flavour that recalls the kitchen of those who grew up with these recipes - it's all here, in a little cake that can also be enjoyed by people with gluten intolerance.
Buckwheat flour replaces wheat without betraying the recipe. Generous coconut dominates the flavour. Fresh eggs bind it all together with the ease of someone who knows the craft. There's nothing else to add, because none is needed.
Made in the Naturtejo Geopark, to reach your table
Geocakes produces in Idanha-a-Nova, in Portugal's first UNESCO Global Geopark. This isn't a packaging detail: it's the territory that inspires, supplies and gives identity to every product. The Gluten-Free Coquinhos are part of this family of handcrafted sweets that Raquel and Rui have been building since 2012, recipe by recipe, without artificial ingredients, without plastic, with respect for tradition and for the people who will eat them.
Each pack is a small ambassador for inland Portugal, made with selected farming ingredients and handcrafted production with GeoFood certification.
Why these coquinhos are different
