Horário
Some vintages stay with you. Herdade do Escrivão's 2019 was one of them. This Reserva comes from a 4.5-hectare vineyard on sandy schist soils in Beira Interior, tended as a living ecosystem following the principles of biodynamic farming. The result is a wine of concentrated character, with the unmistakable signature of those who know the Beira terroir deeply.
An Estate with Deep Roots in Beira Interior
Herdade do Escrivão is an 80-hectare estate that brings together wine, biodiversity and gastronomy in a coherent, long-term project. With over 20 years of organic farming practice and Demeter biodynamic certification since 2019, the estate is led by viticulturist Miguel Valente and winemaker João Salavessa. The vineyard benefits from excellent sun exposure, sandy schist soils with no history of disease, and an integrated agricultural environment: vegetables, cereals, pastures and a herd of Charnequeira goats coexist on the same property, generating natural synergies that come through in the glass.
Grape Varieties, Ageing and Identity
The Reserva is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira and Tinta Roriz, aged in stainless steel to preserve freshness and varietal expression. It's the same philosophy applied to the estate's most demanding tier: no compromises, no artifice, with Beira Interior's terroir at the centre of everything.
What You'll Find in the Glass
A deep garnet colour. On the nose, concentrated red fruit takes centre stage from the start, with ripe cherries and plums up front and wild blackberry notes adding complexity. On the palate, velvety tannins reveal a fuller-bodied structure than the standard vintage, with volume, elegance and a long finish that invites reflection. A Reserva to keep or to share on a special occasion.
Why Choose This Reserva
Quinta dos Termos is rooted in Beira Interior with the conviction of one who respects the terroir they work. This 2021 DOC red is the result of that close relationship with the land: four traditional Portuguese grape varieties, sustainable practices and the unmistakable character of a region that is part of the Naturtejo Geopark.
Four Varieties, One Identity
The blend brings together Jaen, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira, in a combination that reflects the varietal richness of Beira Interior DOC. Partial ageing in French oak barrels adds complexity without overpowering the fruit, resulting in a wine with layers that unfold throughout the tasting.
What You'll Find in the Glass
A deep red colour with bluish hints, a sign of structure and ageing potential. On the nose, fresh red fruit with subtle vanilla notes from the French oak. On the palate, good volume, well-integrated plum compote and firm but polished tannins, supporting a balanced, pleasant finish.
Responsible Production
Quinta dos Termos produces under Integrated Production certification by Sativa, a model that respects the local ecosystem and values the region's native resources. A choice that also supports sustainable viticulture in Beira Interior.
